Our Vision

We are a professional organization, centered around photonics, that seeks to foster innovation, collaboration, academic excellence, and workforce development. Our aim is to leverage all these things, plus research and manufacturing expertise, to grow photonics - and related industries - in New Jersey and the surrounding areas. 

We envision greater harmony between industry and academia, resulting in a workforce trained for all levels of the state's educational system and trade institutions for all relevant photonics positions; and a stronger alignment of industry vision and academic curricula and research.​

Our Mission

Our mission is to create a photonics - related ecosystem in New Jersey and the surrounding areas, dedicated to:

  • Fostering community and collaboration among producers and users, educational institutions, government entities and other interested individuals and organizations;

  • Stimulating partnerships between industry and academia;

  • Attracting investment from industry, government and the capital markets;

  • Promoting sustainable job creation and workforce development, directed by diversity and social equity, and attracting young people into the field;

  • Stimulating entrepreneurship, innovation, and intellectual property creation both regionally and globally; and

  • Evaluating long-term market trends and opportunities and fostering collective action to ensure that New Jersey takes a leadership role in capturing these markets.
